(More customer reviews)My first classic blade style putter was Ray Cook Austin 1 putter and I had a lot of success with it but putts over 20 feet didn't have that true roll that I was looking for. So when Wilson came out with the 8862, I immediately ordered one but to my disappointment I didn't have the same feel with the insert. My distant control was terrible with the 8862. I was very skeptical when Wilson announced the 8882 model but I decided to give it another chance. I prefer 33 inch length putter; however, Wilson only sells 34 and 35 inch models. I'm not sure why they don't make the 33 inch model. I could cut it down to 33 inch but I didn't want to do that for two reasons. The first reason is purely aesthetic. I don't want to destroy a brand new Wilson grip. The second reason is because the putter head of the shorter length is usually heavier than the longer length of the same model. Simply shortening the shaft may affect the feel of the putt. So I decided to just play with the 34 inch version. I also employ a more upright stand for longer putts and a crouching style for shorter putts (<15 feet). I also grip down about one inch. After two weeks of practice, I played eighteen hole with it for the first time last week. Wow, the roll was awesome. I had six of 1 putts v.s none usually. With more practice I'm sure I could do even better.
